Marvel’s Spider-Man

PlayStation approached AKQA to assist with the first Spider-Man video game in over 5 years. The franchise was plagued with failed attempts to capture the stories and gameplay that translated to a true Spider-Man experience. As the delivery lead, I was responsible for overseeing our strategic vision, creative strategy and the execution of campaign all assets. This required navigating complicated review processes among Marvel, Disney, Insomniac Games and PlayStation.

My favorite activation from this campaign were the mailboxes and physical Daily Bugle editions we created for the E3 gaming conference. Fans were ecstatic and some of the copies can still be found for sale on Ebay.

Launch Commercial

As part of the launch strategy, Marvel’s Spider-Man took over the first Thursday night game of the NFL with a 90 second action packed commercial. The trailer received millions of views and rallied the fan base to drive sales.

A blockbuster IP deserved a blockbuster launch. We pulled out all of the stops to deliver a 360 campaign to an international audience.
